Queenie Woof Woof

Queenie Woof Woof was invited along in October to London’s biggest dog event at the Excel centre The Discover Dogs Show.  Humans are welcome but doggies must have a special invite so we wagged our tails when the tickets came in the post for Queenie and us.

This event takes place every year at the Excel and is the perfect opportunity for shopping for your VID (Very Important Doggy) for their Christmas presents or just having a super fun family day out. Maybe you’re thinking as a family, what dog is best for you ? Or maybe you can’t have a dog and your kids would just like to see and interact with dog’s . Whatever the case, this dog event has it all plus under 8’s go free !

So what did we find this year at Discover Dogs? Well there were over 200 different dogs to look at. Also, you get to talk to the breed specialists.Very helpful if you want to know a dog’s traits.

The shopping was fabulous; loads of stalls full of dog fashion. Packed with items you won’t find at the local pet shop. Fancy beds, Swarovski crystal collars & leads, coats, treats, doggy outfits and lots more. So that’s the dogs sorted for Christmas !

Wags and WeddingsWhat kind of stands were there this year ? Very diverse this year. One of the companies that caught our eye was a wedding dog company . They will help you to  include your VID on your special wedding date and make sure your day is dog stress free

Wags and Weddings ,they will bring your dog to your event with one of their special dog chaperones so you do not have any worries over your dog on the big day. They can arrange to have a special outfit made or dress them in what you supply. They can even train them to be ring bearers on your big day.  Also a woof’s wedding cam of your dogs experience at your wedding day can be filmed and as if that’s not enough they can take care of overnight pet sitting BOW WOW!

Pension 4 PawsOne of the very worthy dog charity there this year was Pension4Paws. A really friendly stand with people who help and support police and fire service dogs when they retire and have new homes. They help the dog with vet bills/treatments after they have retired from the service.  This is a  lovely way to give back to our four legged friends who protect us all. Please do take a look at their site .The police and fire services were there to chat to everyone also the children could sit in a fire engine or police car.

We loved the stand Hoop n Loop new this year at Discover dogs. Carol the founder of Hoop n Loop Lady on standthe company who is lovely, will personally hand draw your pet then embroider the design onto any item. The quality and detail is truly beautiful. An amazing present or just a gift to yourself; very unique. As the Dog Fashion Police we were of course drawn to Carol’s fabulous designs . We are going to get Queenie embroidered on our T-Shirts so everyone will see the results. Watch this space, blog to follow soon!

Presenting Dog FoodDog food companies are always at dog events and give you a wide choice of how to look after your dog feeding routine . They are a great source if you come up against a fussy eater or maybe your dogs have all of a sudden developed an allergy like our Queenie. We have had Queenie on a special vet food as Queenie started itching I must at this point say it was not fleas! Queenie is four now and on vet advice we had to change her diet for a while . Luckily we were going to the show so wanted to talk to one of the many dog food experts dotted around the show. We have for many years seen www.barkingheads.co.uk at many shows and we loved the way they take the time to talk to people in depth with their dog food problems. So now Queenie was in need of advice we went and saw the guys at Barking Heads. We spoke to Jim who is a fountain of knowledge on doggy food problems. He recommended the Tiny Paws Range as Queenie is a little dog. “Simple natural pet food at it best ” is their motto . You won’t find any nasty e-numbers or confusing ingredients on their labels. They are very passionate about not just the inside of the dog being well, but their coat outside is important too. So Jim kindly pointed us to the right food for Queenie and very kindly sent us a sample to try. Queenie was so excited when her parcel arrived. We will keep you posted as to her thoughts on the food. It looks positive  as she’s eating it ! Blog to follow soon.

Childrens CornerHold on ! I hear you cry, we’re not interested in buying things as we don’t have a dog . So what about the children who do not have dogs at home and have come along for an action packed day .  Well you will not be disappointed; there’s lots of special invited well behaved dogs for children to pat and interact with, as you walk around, like our Queenie who was so happy meeting and greeting everyone in her famous pink buggy mobile. You have a kids zone which we have got to say we checked out and if we were kids, we would have loved it,with face painting, prize draws, arts and crafts what more could a child want.  Also all kinds of wonderful fun filled displays for everyone to watch throughout the day. You can buy a walk along floating doggy ballon so you do not feel left out belive us its a lot cheaper than a real dog, no vet fee’s,poo bags or having to walk everyday ! But if your child does have a dog and wishes to join in with the show go to Discover Dogs and check out the YKC, The Young Kennel Club for all the info.
